Group Business Controller
We are currently seeking for our Headquarter in Hamburg a highly motivated and dedicated
Group Business Controller (all genders)
Full-time and permanent
Responsibilities:
- Act as a trusted advisor to Enabling Function leadership by delivering proactive, data-driven insights that support strategic planning, resource allocation, and operational effectiveness.
- Monitor, analyze, and report payroll-related costs across regions, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with budget and forecast expectations.
- Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and FP&A teams to provide clear explanations of payroll variances and headcount-related financial impacts.
- Support workforce planning and budgeting cycles by modeling payroll projections, tracking FTE development, and linking labor costs to business KPIs.
- Provide business partners with insights into labor cost drivers, helping leadership teams make informed decisions around hiring, restructuring, or cost optimization.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and financial policies, particularly around payroll accounting and SOX-related processes.
- Develop and maintain payroll dashboards and reports (e.g., in Excel or Power BI) to enable proactive cost monitoring and cross-functional transparency.
- Act as a payroll subject matter expert in financial projects (e.g., ERP upgrades, automation, compensation modeling).
- Continuously improve payroll-related financial processes, supporting automation, standardization, and integration between HR and Finance systems.
Required qualifications:
- University degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent
- Significant relevant professional working experience in a similar role, ideally within life sciences / pharmaceutical sector, and/or within a public/global company
- Experience of setting up reporting structure
- Experience of working in an international environment
- Experience in a Group Business Controlling Environment Strong IFRS knowledge
- Business fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Further ideal qualifications:
- German fluency
- PCAOB and SOX Experience
- Big 4 experience / Consulting
