The Metrology Analyst is responsible for ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and compliance of laboratory and manufacturing instrumentation through timely repair support, coordination of service activities, and GMP documentation management. This role plays a key part in enabling the swift return of instruments to validated use, contributing to continuous quality assurance within a regulated environment.
Instrument Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide technical support for breakdowns and repairs of GMP-critical instruments and systems, coordinating with internal departments and external vendors to resolve issues promptly.
Vendor Coordination
- Schedule and manage annual preventive maintenance and calibration service visits with qualified vendors. Ensure service documentation is received, reviewed, and filed in compliance with internal procedures and GMP regulations.
GMP Documentation & Investigations
- Support and contribute to GMP-related documentation, including:
Out-of-Specification (OOS) investigations
Deviations (DEV)
Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
Assist in the generation and closure of associated records to facilitate timely instrument release and minimise downtime.
Compliance & Data Integrity
- Ensure all metrology activities are performed in accordance with GMP, data integrity principles, and company policies. Maintain accurate, traceable, and complete records.
Instrument Release
- Support the assessment and documentation required to release instruments back into validated GMP use following repair or maintenance activities.
Cross-functional Support
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Laboratory teams to maintain the validated state of instruments and systems.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
Experience working in a GMP-regulated environment
Strong understanding of metrology principles, calibration, and instrumentation.
Familiarity with GMP documentation practices and regulatory requirements.
Excellent communication and organisational skills, particularly in managing external vendors and internal stakeholders.
Experience with systems such as Empower (CDS) or LabWare (LIMS) preferred but not essential.
Key Skills
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on compliance and quality.
Proactive and solution-driven approach to equipment issues and investigations.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
