Senior Procurement Specialist
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Procurement Specialist to join our Procurement team in Abingdon, this is a permanent part time position.
The Role
Our procurement specialist will be a proactive, creative, and personable procurement professional to join our talented, friendly, and supportive team. Our team reflects the dynamic, diverse, and multicultural organisation we support, as an enabling function the procurement team maintains a collaborative relationship with operations to ensure our high standards of service ensure “Research Never Stops”.

Hours: Part time, Monday to Friday 26 hours per week

Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of good practices and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participation in strategic purchasing projects and deployment in various strategic purchasing tasks
- With end-to-end order management as well as supplier & process-related subjects, building strong supplier relationships.
- Interaction with a range of stakeholders, providing help and guidance to colleagues regarding all procurement matters as well as offering support to both the order management team.
- Along with the buying team help manage the end-to-end purchasing process. Use your experience to help the buying team to identify and evaluate new and alternative products and suppliers with the aim of providing best in class service.
- As a key member in identifying, sourcing, delivering, and reporting cost-saving and reduction opportunities.
- Looking at new ways to identify improvements and develop an E-Procurement platform contributing to the Global Procurement objectives for best-in-class procurement technologies.
- Managing requests for new suppliers, solicitation, and evaluation of quotations
- Providing excellent customer service to all stakeholders
- Work alongside Finance to resolve invoice queries
- Working hand in hand with operational teams to drive our focus on delivering a quality service operation to the business.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team and in a commercial environment.
- Comfortable working with a high level of autonomy, highly proactive and enthusiastic.
- Strong communication and networking skills including remote interactions, as well as good organisational and time management abilities and customer-oriented.
- Ability to work with and manage a closely interacting team to deliver to tight timelines.
- Problem-solver, highly adaptive and able to work effectively in a fast-moving and high growth environment.
- An outstanding negotiator and able to demonstrable savings achieved.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, experience, within this role essential good numerical and analytical skills
- Commercial negotiation experience with a good understanding of basic contractual terms
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of interfacing with internal and external contacts at all levels
- Working towards a CIPS qualification (desirable)
Education and Experience
- Previous relevant work experience within purchasing environment, we are open to sector background.
- BA/BS Degree (or higher/equivalent) in either economics or equivalent with relevant focus Or equivalent relevant industrial or academic experience is expected.
- E-procurement knowledge, experience with supplier catalogues and b2b processes, proactive, organised, flexible
