SVP Head of Global Procurement (all genders)

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Senior Vice President Global Procurement to head our Global Procurement Organization. This is a strategic and hands-on senior leadership position reporting directly to the Evotec CFO, leading a global procurement team of 5 direct leadership reports of global category leads and a global procurement solutions leads.

The position is responsible for developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, driving cost efficiencies with a core focus on delivering savings targets and capturing value through effective category management, active engagement in company-wide productivity programs, and robust relationship management.

This is open to applicants willing to work from Hamburg (Germany), Verona (Italy), Toulouse, (France) or Abingdon (UK).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Strategy: Develop and champion a strategic vision for the procurement organization that aligns with Evotec’s overarching strategy. Ensure all initiatives and efforts contribute to the company's long-term goals and objectives.

  • Organizational transformation: Support the organizational journey towards strategic category management and support the team in implementing best practices and tools. Continuously evaluate and optimize the organizational structure. Prioritize resources and strategic initiatives to maximize team effectiveness and engagement.

  • Productivity & value creation: Drive productivity by leveraging market insights, internal spend analytics and functional expertise. Lead the team in aligning sourcing strategies with business objectives, enhancing (cost-) efficiency, and maximizing value creation.

  • Measurable results: Drive measurable results, ensuring the timely and successful execution of all initiatives. Drive accountability through rigorous program management

  • Supplier management: Foster performance excellence through a robust supplier relationship management program. Lead contract negotiations, ensuring favorable, cost-effective terms and conditions, while being uncompromising on quality and reliability. Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations and structure contracts and SLAs to support company goals.

  • Risk management: Integrate category strategies with risk management, ensuring sustained high performance and holistic risk mitigation (incl. supply chain risks.

  • Sustainability & Innovation: Spearhead our digital transformation in procurement to improve efficiency and transparency and drive sustainability initiatives across procurement to reach our ESG goals

  • Business partnering: Spearhead global business engagement with key internal (e.g., Finance, IT, Operations) and external stakeholders. Act as a bridge between internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure full alignment.

  • Culture: Drive a collaborative, and accountable team culture to help to evolve the organization and its culture. Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for stakeholders and a rewarding atmosphere for staff, promoting engagement and satisfaction.

  • Talent development: Develop and lead a high-performing team of procurement leaders overseeing approximately €500M in spend categories.  Coach, mentor and develop team members to build-up leading expertise within the organization.

  • Compliance & Governance: Drive the sustained implementation and execution of progressive global sourcing strategies, policies, procedures, and compliance. Ensure compliance with global legal and regulatory requirements.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • University degree in business, finance, engineering, supply chain or related fields. An advanced degree (e.g., MBA) is desirable

  • Significant years of senior leadership experience in global sourcing functions or significant roles in business operations

  • Thought leadership in enhancing productivity through progressive methods with a proven track record in delivering performance targets and financial contributions

  • Experience transforming service delivery models, demonstrating the ability to drive strategic initiatives in dynamic environments

  • Excellent negotiation, analytical and supplier relationship management capabilities

  • Experience in advanced procurement technologies, e.g., e-procurement tools, AI for procurement

  • Experience in the healthcare industry with a deep understanding of industry-specific challenges and opportunities

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with various business functions

  • Business fluent in English, German a plus, with excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas and strategies clearly to diverse audiences
