Senior Research Scientist (all genders)
Stem Cell
Full-time and permanent
Key responsibilities:
- Design and implement innovative drug discovery strategies using iPSC models with a key focus on cardiomyopathies and drug safety
- Scientifically lead drug discovery and service project(s) along the pre-clinical drug development process and effectively present research findings and project updates to executive leadership teams
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, including bioinformatics, to translate research findings into actionable insights and integrate iPSC projects into broader research pipelines
- Maintain awareness of cutting-edge technological advancements and disease biology to improve project performance
- Drive the preparation and review of scientific proposals for partners and clients in collaboration with business development
- Line management for a large team of technical staff and PhD level scientists providing strong scientific and technical guidance. Forstering an environment that encourages continuous learning, professional development and collaboration
- Timely and accurate generation of high-quality documents, reports and presentations
- Representation of Evotec iPSC capabilities to internal stakeholders and external partners
Qualifications
- Ph.D in biology or a related field with several years of postdoc or industry experience
- Proficiency in deriving iPSC-based models of cardiomyopathies (e.g., hypertrophic, dilated cardiomyopathy). Experience in neurological disorders (e.g., Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS) is a plus
- Proven track record in leading drug discovery campaigns as well as in supporting business development activities resulting in successful deal acquisitions
- Extensive knowledge in iPSC technology and the application thereof in drug discovery campaigns
- Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and projects (strategic and service business)
- Excellent communication and people skills as well as experience in managing and professionally developing other scientists and technical staff
- Proven track record to be able to stay up to date on novel technological developments and scientific literature in the relevant areas mentioned above
- High level of motivation, initiative, flexibility and ability to work well in a cross-functional team
- Full proficiency of English language – both written and spoken, German advantageous
