Intern, Functional Biocharacterization and Impurities
Just is seeking a motivated and creative intern who desires a significant opportunity to improve worldwide access to biotherapeutics. We are seeking a motivated candidate to join a fast-paced, collaborative, and multidisciplinary team to develop cell imaging technology to assess the mechanisms of action (MoAs) of antibody-based therapies. The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of cell biology and previous wet laboratory experience. Previous experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique is required. The ideal candidate has strong written and verbal communications skills, works well independently and in teams, and constantly looks for ways to improve processes.
Responsibilities:
- Work with a mentor to develop a method for image-based cell assays (Incucyte) to evaluate the MoAs of biotherapeutics
- Perform routine mammalian cell culture
- Contribute as a team member to shared responsibilities, including general laboratory upkeep
- End of internship presentation to the scientific staff
Preferred Qualifications:
- Entering junior or senior year working towards a BS in Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry or related field
- Experience with mammalian cell culture
- Excellent experimental design and analysis skills
- Impeccable pipetting skills (single- and multi-channel; forward and reverse pipetting)
- Experience working in a wet laboratory (either academic or previous industry internship)
Pluses:
- Understanding of antibody MoAs including effector functions
- Experience with plate-based cell assays and/or flow cytometry
- Experience with data analysis and visualization software (e.g. JMP)
Note: This is a paid 12 week fixed-term internship located onsite at our Redmond facility. This position is open to all students legally authorized to work in the United States based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. We are not able to offer visa sponsorship, benefits or relocation for internships. The pay for this position is $25.00 per hour.
