Apprenti(e) en alternance au sein du département In Silico R&D

Topic : Scientific application development for druggability assessment

Context:
In pharmaceutical research, identifying biological targets (proteins, genes, etc.) with strong potential for new drug development is crucial. This potential, known as druggability, refers to a target’s ability to effectively interact with a therapeutic molecule and produce a beneficial effect on a disease.
The main objective of this internship is the development of a robust scientific application. This application will calculate a therapeutic potential (druggability) score for different modalities (types of treatments) and for any target of interest, helping to prioritize drug discovery research. The project combines software engineering with scientific problem-solving, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of biomedical research through innovative application development.

Missions:
The intern will actively participate in the following project stages:

  • Participating in the design of the druggability score based on available data and critical evaluation of existing approaches

  • Developing algorithms in Python to analyze biomedical data and calculate the therapeutic potential score of targets.

  • Designing and implementing a database to organize and manage the biological and chemical information required for the analysis.

  • Using SQL queries to extract and manipulate relevant data from the database.

  • Creating dynamic web pages to visualize and explore the analysis results, particularly using the Dash Python framework, which enables the development of interactive, web-based scientific applications and data visualizations entirely in Python.

  • Contributing to technical choices and drafting technical documentation.

Required Skills:

  • Strong interest in scientific application development, with an analytical mindset, autonomy, and scientific rigor

  • Knowledge of base biology concepts is a plus

  • Knowledge of SQL; experience with PostgreSQL is an advantage.

  • Ability to use Git for common version control operations.

  • Familiarity with web-based development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and Python; experience with the Dash framework is a plus.

  • Proficiency in professional English (written and spoken) is a plus.

Education:

Master’s Degree or Engineering School
