WhatYou’llDo:

TheAutomation Engineerplays a pivotal role in driving the advancement of biopharmaceutical production through automation and digitalization. Building upon their experience andexpertisein automation and digital technologies, you will support the technological development across the P&PD(Process & Product Development)Lab automation group for all relevant activities.

• Design, write and troubleshoot scripts for Hamilton, TECAN, Andrew+ and other liquid handlers and pipetting robots.

• Assess commercially available liquid handlers for improving consistency, throughput, and efficiency of all laboratory workflows.

• Have awareness of commercially available instrumentation for the improvement of existing workflow processes and for the introduction of increased capability of antibody discovery efforts.

• Design, write and troubleshoot scripts in Visual Basic, Python or similar languages, that aid in sample handling, processing, and tracking in association with laboratory instrumentation.

• Collaborate with scientists within the Discovery group and immediate department to drive development,efficiencyand integration of workflows.

• Utilize and integrate LIMS with instrumentation and laboratory workflows.

• Install,configureand commission Instrumentation and control system devices.
  

Who You Are: 

• Anengineer or master’s degree in engineering,biologyor robotics.
  Ideally, you have two years of experience in a similar role.

• A professional level of Englishis required towork effectively within this international team (meetings,technicaldocumentation, etc.).

• Knowledge of different automation hardware and ability toidentifynew applications to automate bench-scale workflows.

• Able to interpret experimental needs and translate them into automation specifications.

• Background with popular programing languages (e.g.Python, C++).

• Understanding of Instrumentation and Control systems including sensors, PLCs, communication protocols, and supervisory systems.

• Understanding of network communication basic concepts like IP addressing, network segmentation, and TCP/IP.

• Able to read and understand wiring connection diagrams.

• A problem solver with analytical skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

• Positive with good service motivation.

• Able to work, both within a team and individually.

• Able to work in an active, collaborative,constructive,and respectful manner with all colleagues within and across departments.

• Demonstrated ability to work with flexibility in a changing and demanding environment.
